City to get 1000 crore aid from Sahara (Nav Bharat, Nagpur 27 April, 2007)
Nagpur: Much speculation was doing the rounds about Sahara City Homes Project.
However, a full stop has been put on it with the head of Sahara Infrastructure
and Housing (SIH) reaching Nagpur with his team. The investors have taken a sigh
of relief with Sushanto Roy, head, Sahara Infrastructure and Housing (SIH),
telling that the company has got the nod to go ahead with it mega township
project. The mega project would be officially launched in the month of May.
Talking to Nav Bharat, he told that the conception of township is novel. Such
townships were not made in the eastern countries. That was the reason why there
were no rules and regulations regarding the development of such townships.
Therefore, Sahara had to face a lot of difficulties when the project got under
way. It had to wait for years to get one nod or the other, he added. There is no
doubt about this project in Nagpur, Roy said.
All nods and clearance needed for the Nagpur project have been obtained. The
construction work will begin in May. The deliberations with big companies
required for it have also begun, he said. Young and talented Roy told that the
company will invest Rs 1000 crore in Nagpur. Likewise, some 215 projects will be
completed in the country. The enormity of company’s investment in the housing
project can be gauged from it. Sahara plans to start this project in 20-25
cities in the next 4-5 years. The construction work will begin from Lucknow this
month, he told, adding that the company has got approvals for some other cities
including Indore. He further said it was his second visit to Nagpur. The city of
Nagpur is entirely different from what is said about it, Roy said. It is a
wonderful city, he said.
Nagpur tops the list of emerging cities of the country. I think that it is the
most appropriate time to begin the township project here, Roy added. The demand
for housing facility will grow with the coming of big projects in this field.
The kind of quality Sahara City project is talking of, customers can only feel
it, he said, adding that is why Sahara does not think any other township project
will match it. The profit of high price will also go to those customers alone.
The company is already looking for partners to maintain its dignity. Discussions
are already going on for the malls, brand hospitals and schools to be
constructed under the project, he told.
It must be hoped that some positive results will come in a fortnight, he added.
He told that project in Nagpur will be spread in 107 acres. A total of 2800
houses will be constructed which will include high rise, mid rise apartments,
ray house and semi-detached independent bungalows. Some 400-500 flats have been
booked so far, he told. He says that all flats would be sold within no time once
the construction begins.
This township is also different because the kind of standard to be provided in
security system, transport services, multiplexes and clubs etc won’t be found
anywhere else, he said, adding there was no question of pollution as 50-55 per
cent of land is green, he added. Nagpur project will have three-screen multiplex
and the residents here will not have to move outside for entertainment.
Talking about Aamby Valley, Roy told that Rs 50, 000 mega project is progressing
well towards its target. This project was started in an area of 10, 000 acres in
the first phase. However, it is now felt that more land is required for it.
Sahara is looking for three to four thousand acre of land for the project, he
told. In the first phase, 600 residential bungalows were constructed at Aamby
Valley out of which some 400 to 500 units have been already sold, Roy said.
According to Roy, giving residences to high-ups here is a marketing strategy. I
don’t think that residences have been provided to anyone free of cost here and
therefore Aamby Valley is a profit-giving project of Sahara, he said.
Suryavir Singh, Suderlal, Asad Ahmed, Amitesh Ahuja also accompanied Roy in
inspecting the project. Srivastava, in-charge (Central Area); Harmit Singh,
Abhijeet Sarkar and Nandan Jha were also present on this occasion
