Sahara Township: work will begin next fiscal

Kolkata, Aug 06: Sahara Infrastructure & Housing expects to start work on its township project at Rajarhat during the first quarter of the next financial year and complete it within the next years.

Most of the land for the 200-acre project at Rajarhat, part of the proposed Sahara City Homes chain of townships across 217 cities in the country, has already been acquired. The company will approach state governments for all necessary clearance within the next two months, said Sunder Lal, senior advisor of Sahara City Homes.

Similar but smaller township has also been planned for Siliguri, Durgapur, and Kharagpur, an average of 100 acres each.

Being a late entrant in the real estates sectors in Kolkata, Sahara is confident of the success of the projects

“We have entered the real state sectors in Kolkata and elsewhere with a very long-term view, considering the demand for housing several years down the line,” Lal said.

Sahara has already received clearance for projects in Ahmedabad, Gwalior, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Jaipur, and Indore. Applications for another 60 cities are now pending with the authorities.

“We expect to get approval for most of these projects by March next year,” he added.
